Senate Resolution 161-002 - Students on The Chancellor's Search Committee

Whereas, The hiring of a new Chancellor could have many ramifications on student life;
Whereas, Student input on the Chancellor's search committee is priceless; and
Whereas, President Mark Hamilton was quoted at the Chancellors Convocation as saying "We've got students" when explaining who would serve on the committee; now, therefore be it
Resolved, That ASUAF requests a minimum of three voting students and one alternate on the UAF Chancellor's search committee.
Senate Resolution 161-001 - RHA Deserves More Funding

Whereas, RHA is a popular, active and powerful student organization;
Whereas, ASUAF is the body to which students bring their grievences;
Whereas, ASUAF has the authority to speak on behalf of the UAF student body; now therefore be it
Resolved, That ASUAF oppose that budget cut that Residence Life imposed upon RHA; and be it further
Resolved, That ASUAF requests Residence Life Director Kevin Huddy to reasses the current budget of RHA
Senate Bill 161-035 - Glass Recycling at UAF

Whereas, The students have requested glass recycling;
Whereas, Waste disposal costs the University $50 a ton;
Whereas, Fairbanks currently does not offer glass recycling;
Whereas, The first glass recycling program in Fairbanks would bring positive recognition to UAF and ASUAF;
Whereas, ASUAF has letters of intent from Lynden Transport, Polar Glass, and Facilities Services to assist in our efforts;
Whereas, We are currently soliciting money from the community in our “Sponsor a Bin Campaign;”

Senate Bill 161-033A - Free Bowling for All

Whereas, the bowling alley will reopen in January 2004; and
Whereas, the cost to reserve the bowling alley is $50/hr;
Whereas, the first day of the spring semester is January 15, 2004; and
Whereas; This would be a great promotional endeavor to embark on now, therefore be it
Enacted, That ASUAF allocate $800 from Senate Projects for the purpose reserving the Wood Center Bowling Alley every Saturday in February between the hours of 7:30 pm and11:30; and be it further
Senate Bill 161-032 - Funding for the Biggest and Baddest KSUA Anniversary Party Ever

Whereas, KSUA is planning to have a big party,
Whereas, Alas, KSUA has an extremely tight budget,
Whereas, The size of the party is directly proportional to the money
that KSUA has for food, decorations, and miscellaneous party stuff,
Whereas, H.B. thinks that KSUA should have a huge freakin' party instead
of a medium party, and
Whereas, General Manager Curt Merrill has promised that KSUA will list
ASUAF as a sponsor for said party in their advertisements in return for
money; now, therefore be it
Senate Bill 161-031 - Support the RHA postcard challenge

Whereas, A postcard campaign directed at the governor has been instituted to help in insuring funding;
Whereas, Getting signatures is essential for the success of the campaign;
Whereas, The dorms are a good source of signitures;
Whereas, RHA has accepted a inter-dorm competition for the acquisition of postcard signatures;
Whereas, The signitures acquired through this were beneficial in the postcard campaign;
Whereas, Good work should be rewarded when possible;
Senate Bill 161-030 - A New Phone for the Senate Chambers

Whereas, this aformentioned phone will shock your ear on occasion; and
Whereas, a new phone would allow us to conduct long-distance business without fearing for the safety of our ears; now,
therefore be it
Enacted, that ASUAF allocate $50 from Senate Projects for the purchase of a a new phone that works.
Senate Bill 161-029A - Getting Name Tags for All Senators and Executives

Whereas, Blank Name tags can be purchased for $8.50 each,
Whereas, A labeler costs about $100; and therefore be it
Enacted, That ASUAF purchase a total of 35 name tags for a total of $297.50 from senate projects; and be it further
Enacted, That ASUAF allocate $100 from senate projects for the purchase of a label maker and labels to label the nametags.
Senate Bill 161-027A - Thank You to Melissa McDonald for Running our Election

Whereas, Melissa McDonald took on the task of supervising the booths,
Whereas, when elections booths were not manned, Melissa McDonald stayed extra hours,
Whereas, Melissa MacDonald missed many of her classes in order to attend to the elections booths,
Whereas, Melissa MacDonald performed a paid service to ASUAF with no compensation,
Whereas, ASUAF would like to thank Ms. McDonald for her community service; Now,
