Whereas, The precedent set in previous elections is that the runner up is automatically eligible to take an election seat in the event that the winning candidate cannot perform their duties;

Whereas, The runner up's many times do not show voter confidence when they are elected with only a handful of votes;

Whereas, Other times the runner up's are fictional characters like Joe Pimpin' Blanchardt the Third or James Von Housser Lichtenstein the Fifth; and

Whereas, Having only one winner with a plurality of votes for a senate seat not only encourages competition, but by default has a higher ASUAF voter representation; now therefore be it

Enacted, That the following amendment be made to the Elections Manual:

204.6 In the event that the winning candidate cannot perform his/her duties for the election year, the seat in question shall remain open until filled by presidential appointment or an election, whichever comes first.
